I'm most impressed with Addison's creativity and technical ability. It's a good puzzle, as we've come to expect from him. One thing I've learned is that he won't share a solution until he's decided it's good. I really like that.
Then, the first 20,000 solutions crawled onto the grid. I solved the first few in just a minute or two, but was totally consumed by the puzzle by the end of the afternoon. I went to bed at 7:30 that night and started a grid for the next day.
The second day, I slept only three hours. When I woke up, I did a double-blind grid, leaving the word crypt in the grid. This meant I was sure I could not be solved from clues alone. I solved it in just a few minutes. Unlike the first time, I was not consumed by the puzzle.
It turns out that the wordplay was not all there. The words could be solved either by conventional crosswordese, or using the GIN (Groups In A Nexus) method, which is the method I follow for all my puzzles. The real cipher was solved using the GIN. This may be explained by the fact that the squares in the grid were numbered 1-5, and the letters needed to be rearranged to fit the pattern. This was a quick process.
One early mistake was that I didn't check the CXA widget on my own puzzles. This happened because several days of preparation for crosswords in other publications (online and in print) was put aside to work on the CXA. The first time I tried to solve it, I made a mistake and could not finish it. I began to think it was not going to be solvable after only three tries.
If another hacker does this, then they will be able to put any game on the ps3 in a matter of minutes! and that means that Sony will be out of the console market for good. We have seen what happens when sony doesn't support games anymore. Nintendo is turning a profit, now it is time for Sony to do the same, or else they are dead.
I don't see the appeal of owning a Sony PS3, and I don't see the value of the PS3 as an entertainment device. Sony has become one of the most untrustworthy companies in the gaming industry in my eyes. 827ec27edc
